I hail from Bala in North Wales. I’ve been married to Maggie for 41 years and we have 5 children and 3 grand-daughters. I read Welsh Literature and Theology at the University College of North Wales, Bangor before moving to South Wales in 1975 to teach Religious Studies at the Polytechnic of Wales in Pontypridd. I left the Polytechnic in 1987 to join Tearfund where I currently work as their Theological Advisor. My role is to provide theological expertise to international teams. This has led to many visits to theological colleges in places such as India, Romania, Jamaica, Bolivia, Brazil – to name but a few! When not travelling around the globe, I like nothing more than to relax, working in our allotment.

I was born in north west London, although my family originate from the small Caribbean island of Grenada. I have been married to my beautiful wife Joy since 1985 and we have two lovely daughters. I moved to Wales in 1981 to study Civil Engineering in Pontypridd, despite this I ended up teaching mathematics at secondary school level. Currently, I am employed by the Vale of Glamorgan as a Curriculum Development Adviser for Numeracy. I love sport, skiing, hill walking and meeting people, especially those form different countries and cultures. I especially love sharing the Good News of Jesus and being involved in mission.

My wife Sharon and I are both Cardiff born and bred and always expected to move back to complete the saying! We didn’t know anyone in Ponty when we moved here in the summer of 1984 but we had such a good welcome at Temple that we soon settled in. If I tell you that we celebrated our silver wedding at Temple earlier this year with our three sons, neighbours, relatives and church friends, you’ll gather just how good the welcome was.

I sciffle a bit on the sax and try to keep up with Sharon’s new found fitness regime. She gets her money’s worth at the local gym; I just about break even. I work for a housing association in Cardiff and in my spare time check up on building sites for a national scheme.

One of the things I love about Temple is people’s willingness to get involved. I’ve tried my hand at various things over the years and am currently serving as an elder with an emphasis on encouraging prayer within the church. I’ve been in the role since 2006 but am still learning...
