Small groups 2019

Welcome to your Temple Baptist, small groups guide - 2019! Here you’ll be able to find out all about the brilliant small groups that run each week.

So what’s all the commotion about?

Well… we’re rebooting our small groups! Perhaps you’ve never attended a smallgroup before and would like to give it a try. Or maybe you fancy a change and would just like to try another group. During January & February, now’s the time to explore!

At the back of the church, there will be a display containing all this information. There will also be sign-up sheets so that you can join a new group, swap your current one, or else throw yourself into business as usual, whilst celebrating what’s going on!

Wait. Go back a step. What is a small group?

The clue’s in the name. Small groups tend to be a small group of people (normally somewhere between 5 -15) who meet in someone’s home (although, just to confuse you, some of our groups sometimes meet in other venues about town).

And what is their purpose?

Our small groups aim to help us all grow in our faith through fun, fellowship, mutual support and prayer. We do this though:

1. Adoration: Focussing on God & thanking him for what he’s done in our lives.

2. Bible study:  Exploring how Biblical truth can impact our everyday living.

3. Serving:  A safe place for everyone to explore, develop and use our spiritual gifts, as we serve each another.

4. Accountability: Supporting & encouraging one another so we can help each another stay true to our best intentions.

Are all the groups the same then?

Not at all. Whilst there’s a common purpose, they all fulfil it in their own unique way.

Can I sign up to more than one?

You’re allowed to sign up to as many as you like. However, we would ask that any group you do sign up to, you commit to!

What happens next?

Once you’ve put your name on a sign-up sheet (at the back of the church), the small group leader will be in touch to let you know the time and date of the get-together, and you can take it from there.

Am I guaranteed a space?

It will depend on numbers and the capacity of your chosen group. Many of the groups are carrying on, which means that existing members will get priority, but the sign-up sheets at the back of the church should give you a pretty good gauge of how many spaces are left in any given group.

Who can I speak to for more information?

Speak to any member of the Leadership Team – hopefully we’ll be answer any questions.
