Lighthouse – Work amongst the Youth
The work of reaching out to the youth of Pontypridd has blossomed over the last year. Provision of hot chocolate, a safe space and a listening ear on Friday evenings developed further into a meeting on Sunday evenings exploring faith where attendance is regularly over 30. If you are interested in getting involved, please contact Patsy Gerrish or Ifi Otung Jnr.
Temple Family Day – Save the Date
A day out for all ages at Temple is planned for Saturday 16 Sept 2017. Likely to take place in a leisure centre in Rhondda, it will include teaching for the adults (all ages) and lots of fun activities for small, medium and large sized kids, so something for everyone in the family. More information will follow.
Side Hall Refurbishment
Works continue in the side hall until 10 August. These are a combination of highly skilled works for professionals and other more general tasks that volunteers could help with. Big Bite in Ynysangharad Park
This annual food festival takes place on 5 & 6 August. If anyone can help out by doing a 2 hour slot on the Fair Trade stall, then please contact Maggie Hughes.
Hiraeth The Longing
Friday 11 (evening) & Saturday 12 August 2017 will see Hiraeth, an event focused on Family Fun Faith, to be hosted at Gelliwastad Road Churches. The Eden Bus for youth and celebration worship on Friday. Seminars, Messy Church, free food, prayer trail on Saturday plus more celebration Sat evening. CAP Befrienders Training Session
Are you interested in helping with CAP? If so, please come along to St Catherine's on 26th August between 10am and 12noon when a training session will be held to explain how you can help. There is an urgent need for more people to help with CAP. We are looking for people who can accompany Lorraine to visit clients from time to time. If you are interested and would like more information have a word with Janet Williams.
Casa Harului Camp - Romania 2017
The main part of the Welsh contingent joined Martin, Dana & Owain early Saturday morning. Preparation for various activities (games, craft, meetings) continues to Monday before the children from Uricani and Lupeni orphanages arrive on Tuesday until Sunday 13/8. We are asked to pray for:-
· Camp and activity leaders and organisers – preparation time and good relationships
· Travel arrangements for the English and Welsh members of the team, and those of the Romanian helpers and children
· Safety for all during the camp and in the kitchen
· The children meeting in 3 groups; younger kids, older boys and older girls; discussion groups for these latter two
· Language and translation issues; good weather
· God’s care and guidance will be experienced by all and that His Name will be glorified in everything
