Tempo - Sunday 17th September 2017

This Sunday

Ifiok Otung Snr will be preaching from Mark 5: 25-34

“Our Father: but what kind of father?”

A Special Celebration

Dewi and Maggie Hughes celebrate their Golden Wedding Anniversary later this month.  You are cordially invited to celebrate with them when they hold a drop in here at Gelliwastad Road for tea and cakes on 30 September from 3pm to 5pm.

They do not want any presents but are instead doing a collection for Toilet Twinning which provides sanitation and clean water to the poorest communities in the world.

Quilt and Craft Exhibition

The talented ladies of Craftypatch and Ponty Patchers have been preparing all year for a special exhibition of their work to be held here from 10am to 4pm on Friday 6 and Saturday 7 October.

Harvest Celebration

Help is needed on the evening of Saturday 7 October from 4pm onwards to reposition the chairs in the church following the craft exhibition and to decorate the church for the Harvest service on Sunday 8 October. Please see Janet or Carol if you are able to help.

Wayne Adams Ordination Service

Wayne has completed his studies at the South Wales Baptist College.  There will be a formal ordination service and celebration during the afternoon of 21 October.

 Small Groups

Those groups that take a break over the summer will be restarting.  May God use the relationships formed from this model of church to bless us and others.

This is a good opportunity to think about becoming part of a small group if you are not already.

Student Activities

Many of our students will have returned by now and may well be amongst us this morning.  As always, there will be a new crop of young folks starting their studies.

Please pray for a quick settling in period especially for new students, the new leadership of the Christian Union and the events organised during Freshers Week over the next 7 days.

May Christians amongst this intake find a home from home and flourish in local churches in the area, including this one.

Please remember also the students we have known who have now finished their studies and moved on from Pontypridd.

Please pray for the events that are being arranged for the new and returning students.

Ø  Day trip on Saturday 7th October

Ø  Church Meal for Students and Church Fellowship on Sunday 1st October

Ø  Grab a Student lunch, date to be announced soon.

If you would like more information or would like to get involved in this valuable work please speak with Ceri or Ruth Herbert.

The Lido’s 90th birthday

There are a number of talks at Pontypridd Library from 2pm to 7pm on Tuesday 19 Sept.  Our own Mark Dorey will be speaking at 2pm.

Pont Harvest Supper

PONT is organising a Harvest Supper in the Connect Café at St Catherine’s Church on Friday 6 October at 7pm. Tickets are £7 each available from Melanie (not here today) or online at www.buytickets.at/pont. Children under 18 are free and some complimentary adult tickets are available but please book a ticket in advance. BYO drinks (alcohol allowed at St Cath’s)

The evening will include a buffet, worship, success stories from PONT’s Ugandan projects, a short time of prayer and even a quiz. It should be a real celebration of the blessings PONT has brought as well as a chance to look to the future. All are welcome whether you have been to Uganda with PONT, want to find out about the projects for the first time or are somewhere in between!
